Shelly Legal’s Principal Solicitor is Lydia Shelly.

Lydia Shelly has a broad and diverse experience in legal practice. Lydia is admitted as a solicitor with the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia. Highly experienced in Criminal, Family, Wills and Estates Law; Lydia also develops a unique rapport with the clientele and prides herself as being a trusted advisor to her clients.
As an experienced lawyer, Lydia has presented evidence at several Australian Parliamentary inquiries into proposed laws relating to criminal offences and counter terrorism, including the Counter-Terrorism Legislation Amendment Bill (No. 1) 2014 and the Counter-Terrorism Legislation Amendment (Foreign Fighters) Bill. Lydia regularly provides commentary to the media both within Australia and internationally on Australian law and practice. Lydia is on the committee of the New South Wales Council for Civil Liberties and serves on a number of not-for-profits boards. Lydia is a proud member of the Law Society of New South Wales, Australian Lawyers for Human Rights, Women Lawyers Association of New South Wales, the Australian Law Council and Australian Women Lawyers.

Lydia holds Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Western Sydney, a Graduate Diploma from the College of Law (NSW) and a Masters of Applied Law majoring in Family Law from the College of Law (NSW).
